SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Sept. 27, 2005--Following Palm,
Inc. and Microsoft Corp.'s announcement yesterday, 2 healthcare
software developers have announced they are on board to support
the Treo smartphones running on the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating
system.
In a press conference yesterday in San Francisco with Ed Colligan,
president and chief executive officer of Palm; Bill Gates, chairman
and chief software architect of Microsoft; and Denny Strigl, chief
executive officer of Verizon Wireless, the companies announced
that Palm has licensed the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating
system for a new line of Treo smartphones.
The following are the first two healthcare software developers
to announce plans to support the new Treo 700
-- Epocrates,
Inc. -- Epocrates, Inc. provides innovative clinical solutions
and applications for physicians and healthcare professionals at
the point of care. Epocrates(R) Essentials mobile suite features
continually updated information on drugs, diseases, and diagnostics.
